Identify the main equipment, who installed or changed it, when the work occurred and which records were provided. “Not sure” is more useful than guessing.
Records worth asking about
- System drawings or an accurate single-line/as-built record.
- Certificates, test records and relevant supply authorisations, each understood within its actual scope.
- Equipment and installer information.
- Operating, shutdown and emergency information.
- Maintenance, inspection, fault, repair and modification history.
- Open recommendations and evidence of how they were addressed.
A document being present does not prove that it covers the complete current system. Changes after issue may affect its relevance.
Know when to stop
Do not open enclosures, separate PV connectors, climb onto a roof or test electrical equipment to answer a website question. Visible damage, smoke, heat, unusual odour, arcing or other immediate concern needs an appropriate safety response and competent help.
